Melbourne’s West is a city in its own right.
We’re already much bigger than Canberra or the Gold Coast, and in 30 years, we’ll have 1.8 million residents – more people than Perth, making us the most populated region of Melbourne.
Unlike other cities though, public transport in the West is not designed to help people get to work in their own communities.
There is no proper tram network and the train system is focused on moving people from the outer suburbs to the CBD. That means using public transport to get from one part of the West to another can take hours.
This is putting a brake on job creation in our region and making it harder for employers who are located in the West to grow.
